Response to Brown's Campaign Mailer

Many District 4 residents received a flyer in their mailbox from my opponent’s campaign about Mableton’s service delivery strategy agreement with Cobb County and police services.
I voted against the agreement because our attorney, city manager, consultant, and every member of the City Council — including the Mayor — agreed it would result in double taxation for Mableton residents.
The deal required the city to levy new taxes for the same police services we already receive through our Cobb County taxes. I promised not to support additional taxes for identical services, and I kept that promise.
While some raised concerns about sanctions, both the City and County already knew the May 31 deadline would be missed regardless. Those sanctions were ultimately held in abeyance — as they likely would have been even with more time to negotiate a fairer deal.
At that moment, Cobb County had the most to lose, and Mableton had the leverage to fight for what was right. When voters chose cityhood, it was under the promise of same taxes, better service. Doing what’s right for Mableton citizens is what I stood for — and that’s what I’ll continue to fight for.
